Wayside Inn is a fully equipped, self-catering historic farmhouse situated in an area of ​​exceptional natural beauty in Woodville, near Wilderness.

The Wayside Inn was formerly the old coach house that accommodated the horses and wagons for the old mail route between Knysna and George during the 1800s. The house has recently been restored to a high standard, yet its original character—featuring yellowwood ceilings and beams—has been preserved.

The original Wayside Inn was built by Jonas Stevens; he managed the adjacent property and the mail coach service for many years and was renowned for his hospitality. Weary travelers could always count on a good meal and a comfortable bed.

The self-catering house accommodates up to six guests; the entire house is booked as a unit and is not shared with other parties, ensuring complete privacy. The luxurious bedroom is beautiful and has served as a honeymoon suite. The house comprises three bedrooms, a kitchen, and a spacious dining and living area. The first bedroom features a king-size bed, while the second contains a double bed. The third bedroom is furnished with both a double bed and a queen-size bed. All bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms.

The house boasts all modern amenities and appliances. The kitchen is equipped with a dishwasher, a large stove, a toaster, a washing machine, and a refrigerator. The living area features an Easyview TV, and various board games, braai facilities, and a Nespresso machine are provided. Guests simply need to bring their own coffee pods. Free, limited Wi-Fi internet access is available.

The surrounding area combines sea, mountains, rivers, lakes, and countryside, and is close to the beautiful beaches of Wilderness.
